Agitating Agricultural body activists arrested
Puducherry, Nov 5 (UNI) As many as 95 volunteers of the Agricultural Labourers Welfare Association, including women, were arrested when they attempted a rail-roko to press their demands, including conversion of their welfare association into a welfare board.
The volunteers, who took out a procession from the Singaravelar statue to the railway gate, were arrested near the gate.
Meanwhile, 91 volunteers of different Dalit organisations were arrested when they attempted to barge into the Legislative Assembly premises to press their demand that the special component funds meant for the development of the Adi Dravidar people should not be diverted to other departments.
