Accused named in scribe assault case surrenders

Patna, Nov 5 (UNI) Vipin Singh, accused of alleged assault and wrongful confinement of a private national news channel reporter at JD(U) MLA Anant Kumar Singh's residence, today surrendered before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Patna.

By filing a surrender petition through his counsel Navin Kumar, accused Vipin, a resident of Maldiara Mokama, prayed for his judicial custody in the case.

Accepting his plea, CJM R P Singh sent the accused to Beur Central Jail after taking him in judicial custody.

An FIR had been lodged against Vipin Singh and JD(U) MLA Anant Singh. The CJM court had issued a non-bailable warrant against the two named on November 3. While the latter is already in jail, police were on the lookout for Vipin. Anant Kumar Singh was arrested by the Patna police on November 1.
