Vijay Goel meets Shivraj Patil, demands CM's dismissal

New Delhi, Nov 4 (UNI) Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today called for the dismissal of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for her inability to restrict the spate of accidents caused by bluelines in the city.

Senior Party leader Vijay Goel, who led a delegation of BJP MLAs to the 4 Janpath residence of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, submitted to him a memorandum demanding the dismissal of Ms Dikshit on the issue.

Talking to newspersons after submitting the memorandum, Mr Goel said, ''The Blueline buses have spread a trail of death in Delhi, with almost one death being reported per day over the past few weeks.

Yet, the Chief Minister has been unable to do anything to tackle the problem.

''Instead, Ms Dikshit has been coming out with a new statement every day over the issue. Consequently, we have demanded her dismissal over her inaction in preventing the deaths due to Bluelines,'' he added.

Mr Goel demanded that a new compensation policy be formed under which each death due to accidents shall be given Rs 5 lakh and each seriously injured be given a monetary relief of Rs 2 lakh.

He alleged that no compensation policy for victims of bus accidents was in force till date.

The delegation also included BJP MLAs Ramesh Bidhuri and Vijay Jolly.
