Top LeT ultra among four militants killed in Jammu
Jammu, Nov 4 (UNI) A top Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander was among four militants shot dead by security forces in twin Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir today, official spokesman said.
A self-styled 'district commander' of LeT, Shaukat Ali, who was active since 2000, and his associate Abdul Latif, were killed by a joint team of Rashtriya Rifles and police at Sonawar in Thatri area of Doda this morning, defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami said.
One AK 47 rifle with two magazines, one SLR with one magazine and two pouches were recovered from the encounter site.
Meanwhile, in another encounter at Balana forests in Kishtwar, two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen(HM) militants were killed by the troops of 11 RR(DOGRA), Lt Col Goswami said.
The militants, identified as Abdul Gani and Abdul Qayoom, were shot dead by troops only after ensuring successful release of a hostage, he informed.
Two AK versions of assault rifles were also recovered from the shootout site, he added.
