Three commit suicide in hotel in Punjab

Amritsar, Nov 4 (UNI) Three people, including a four-year-old child, allegedly committed suicide after consuming sulphas tablets in a hotel room in the city, police today said.

According to the police, the bodies of the three were discovered by the hotel staff, who had to break open the room door. The three had probably taken the extreme step last night.

The three were identifed as Deepak, Reenu and her daughter Ishu.

They belonged to Rayya town of the district.

A suicide note recovered from the site stated that they had decided to take the extreme step as the people of their home town cast aspersions on their characters. The veins of the three victims were also slashed.

The police had registered a case and begun investigations.
