Task force for employment to ex-servicemen

Bhopal, Nov 4 (UNI) A proposal for constituting a task force for making employment opportunities available to ex-servicemen was under consideration with the Madhya Pradesh Government.

Wing Commander (Directorate of Sainik Welfare) Retd A K Puri said the Home Department has issued directions to all district collectors to form a committee for resolving problems of retired and other ex-servicemen besides widows and dependents of servicemen in the state.

The committee would also provide assistance for resolving family and other problems of ex-servicemen. The committee would be headed by the District Collector. The District Sainik Welfare officer would be its secretary.

Wing Commander Puri said pension to ex-servicemen and their widows who fought in the Second World War has been increased from Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500. This would benefit about 800 former sainiks or widows.

He said previous rules for recruitment to the post of constable in Madhya Pradesh police has been relaxed for ex-servicemen.

Besides, selection procedure was underway in private companies.
