Aruna Vasudev to be conferred Satyajit Ray Memorial award
Mumbai, Nov 4 (UNI) The ongoing Third Eye Sixth Asian Film Festival, which is underway at different venues across the metropolis, will confer the 'Satyajit Ray Memorial Award for Promoting Film as Art' to noted film-maker Aruna Vasudev.
Besides being a film-maker, Ms Vasudev is also a writer, editor and festival organiser. She is the founder editor of 'Cinemaya', the Asian Film Quarterly, which is India's first and probably one of the few publications in the world solely devoted to Asian cinema.
Vasudev is author and editor of books such as 'Liberty and Licence in the Indian cinema' and 'New Indian Cinema'. She is co editor of 'Being and Becoming: the Cinemas of Asia' and 'Indian Cinema Superbazaar' which was also published in French.
The previous recipient of the 'Satyajit Ray Memorial Award for Promoting Film as Art' was Prof Satish Bahadur in 2006.
