Pakistan appoints new chief justice-state TV

ISLAMABAD, Nov 3 (Reuters) Pakistan appointed a new Supreme Court chief justice after President Pervez Musharraf imposed emergency powers and suspended the constitution, state-run television said today.

The outgoing Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry refused to take an oath under the provisional constitutional order promulgated by Musharraf.
