Shimla, Nov, 3 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Governor V S Kokje said students should be taught Indian Classical Music and Culture for better career opportunities in the field, so that rich cultural heritage of the State could be preserved.

The Governor was presiding over a meeting of H P Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY) at Raj Bhawan here today.

Mr Kokje said SPICMACAY should conduct a survey for searching talents in educational institutions in Himachal so that these could be encouraged.

He said, even today many people were interested in Indian Classical Music and Art and there was a need to coordinate with such people and organisations which arranged such classical programme.

SPICMACAY should organise its programmes during fairs and festivals in Himachal, he added.

He also urged SPICMACAY to provide a platform for Himachali artists so that they could exhibit their talent and feel encouraged as well.
