Counting
of
votes
polled
for
the
Assembly
byelection
in
Lanji
constituency
in
Madhya
Pradesh
was
in
progress
at
the
district
town
of
Balaghat
today.
Tight security arrangements have been made for counting in 11 rounds, District Collector Gulshan Bamra said.
More than 70 percent polling was recorded on October 30 in the byelection caused by the death of former minister Dilip Bhatere(BJP), whose wife Dhareshwari Bhatere is the BJP nominee in a 19-cornered contest with Mr Bhagwat Bhau Nagpure of Congress and Samajwadi Party's Kishore Samrite as her main rivals.
Other prominent candidates include Janata Party's Kankar Munjare, Bhartiya Jan Shakti's Badhuram Devgadhe and Gondwana Gantantra Party's Rajeshwar Choudhary.
