Cardiological Society conference in Kochi

Kochi, Nov 3: More than 400 cardiologists from across Kerala will attend the annual conference of the Kerala State chapter of the Cardiological Society (CS) beginning here on November four.

Cardiologists would deliberate on the current management of heart disease in diabetics and hypertensives, considering the recent surge in the incidence and prevalence of these killer diseases, which have resulted in a global epidemic of cardiovascular diseases, especially in young patients, Organising Secretary Dr Rony Mathew said in a statement here yesterday.

There would also be a special focus on edible oils that were best suited to prevent cardiovascular diseases. Scientific papers on various aspects of cardiovascular diseases would be presented in the free paper session, he said.

During the conference, there would be efforts to evolve strategies to constructively engage the Society in rassing awareness about cardiovascular disease prevention, he added.
