BJP Legislators commence indefinite dharna

Bangalore, Nov 3 (UNI) The BJP Legislators commenced an indefinite dharna in front of Gandhi Statue here this morning pressing for the installation of the BJP-JD(S) coalition Government in Karnataka.

The BJP national leader Venkaiah Naidu came down heavily on the Congress party for pressurising both the Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur and the Centre to prevent the coalition set up from coming to power in the State. The attitude of the Congress leaders in the State was ''anti democratic, immoral and unconstitutional,'' he remarked.

He questioned the 'inordinate delay' to set up the State Government albeit 129 MLAs of both the parties had elected BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa as the joint legislature party leader and submitted individual affidavits to the Governor in this regard.

Party MP Ananth Kumar, in his address, felt that the Governor should have recommended revocation of the President's rule on the day when the Legislators submitted their individual affidavits a week ago. A large number of leaders and party workers gathered at the venue amid tight security.

No JD(S) leader was present although the BJP leaders had announced yesterday that the dharna would be held jointly.
