AIADMK demands CBI probe into rice smuggling

Puducherry, Nov 3 (UNI) Reiterating his demand for a CBI probe into the alleged smuggling of ration rice to Andhra pradesh via Puducherry, AIADMK state secretary A Anbazhagan today sent separate letters to the Union Home Minister, Civil Supplies Minister, Puducherry Lt Governor and CBI Director.

It may be noted that the Puducherry Food Cell Police had seized 2,400 tonnes of rice, meant for distribution through the PDS in Tamil Nadu, from a goods train here.

Meanwhile, due to pressure from the railway authorities, the adminstration had ordered for safe custody of the rice till the issue was over.
