3 held with 'Ashtadhatu' idol, python skin of 2.5 cr

Barabanki, Nov 3 (UNI) Police has busted a smuggling syndicate in Kursi area of the city and arrested its three members possessing an ancient 'ashtadhatu' idol of Lord Krishna and python skin.

The booty was estimated at Rs 2.5 crore in the international market.

Police Superintendent Pravin Kumar today said on being tipped about the presence of some notorious smugglers near Nidura Block, cops cordoned off the area and swooped upon three motorcycle-borne late yesterday.

On being frisked, 2.5 kg idol and python skin was recovered from their possession.

On interogation, the accused confessed to the crime, saying they were taking the consignment to Lucknow.
