Vigilance sleuth arrests an excise-inspector in bribe case

Patna, Nov 02 (UNI) The Bihar state vigilance bureau today arrested Vijay Kumar Chaurasia, an excise-inspector posted at Biharsharif in Nalanda district while accepting a bribe of Rs five thousand.

Additional Director General of vigilance Neelmani informed here today that a complaint was filed by one Rajiv Ranjan that Mr Chaurasia had demanded Rs 5000 from him for each wine shop at Biharsharif.

Mr Neelmani also said that today in the morning Mr Chaurasia was arrested by the vigilance sleuth while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 at his residence in Biharsharif.

In a search further conducted at Mr Chaurasia's residence at Punaichak mohalla of the state capital cash over rupees three lakhs was recovered in addition to silver and gold jewelleries, Mr Neelmani added.

Mr Chaurasia was brought here today at the bureau headquarters and was being interrogated. He would be produced before the vigilance court at Patna tomorrow, he added.
