According to a defence release here today, the security forces dismissed the news report and claimed that it was absolutely wrong to say that the killing of NSCN-IM cadre at Khatkhati (in Assam) was a violation of the ceasefire ground rules.
It said the incident took place after the security forces were mobilised, based on specific inputs regarding an arms deal between some unknown party and KNLF terrorists at the site of incident.
It stated that the vehicle with the 'miscreants' was about to be checked by the security forces, when they opened fire injuring one soldier and a civilian.
It also said in the retaliatory fire, one person was killed and another injured.
