Inhuman treatment of workers won't be tolerated: Dhahi

Dubai, Nov 2 (UNI) Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, has warned that the executives of construction firms can be sued for meting out inhuman treatment to their workers.

The police have already started questioning manager of a construction company who admitted ''wrongdoing'' before Director of Dubai Police's human rights department, Lt Gen Khalfan Tamim said.

He also praised the role being played by the Indian Consulate in Dubai for coordinating with the police in resolving the issue, Khaleej Times quoted the emirate Police Chief as saying.

The authorities will not hesitate in taking stern action against anyone who violates the instructions issued by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, specially his orders relating to workers' rights, he added.
