Cases against MLA, 41 others

Madikeri, Karnataka, Nov 2 (UNI) Police slapped cases against MLA K G Bopaiah and 41 others for allegedly disturbing Rajyotsava Day celebrations here yesterday.

Cases of rioting, disturbing and damaging the public property were registered against them.

The action comes after the riotous situation under which the district administration had to conduct Rajyotsava.

Kodagu Existence Committee had called for a Kodagu bandh to protest the government's alleged apathy against Kodagu and appealed to schools, colleges and even government officials to hold back celebrations.

Students were brought in police vehicles to the Fort premises to take part in the celebration, much to the annoyance of the protestors.
