Splendid Surprise wins the Mysore Derby

Mysore, Nov 1 (UNI) Second favourite 'Splendid Surprise' well ridden by J H Christopher claimed the Poonawalla Mysore Derby 2007 (Grade-I), the prestigious race of the season here today.

The winner is owned by Santhosh S Lad and Trained by M P Mahaesh.

Trainer R Foley, Jockeys B Prakash and Appu had a brace of winners each.

Only three favourites are obliged in a long card of ten events.

Dr M A M Ramaswamy declared the leading owner with total stake amount of Rs 90,10,393 while R Foley claimed the leading trainer trophy with saddled 27 winners and his stable Indian ace Jockey B Prakash ridden 25 winners and won the Champion Jockey trophy.

M/s Benaka won the leading Bookmakers trophy. Racing card, the Race Today won the leading Tipster Trophy for having tipped 53 winners in the season.

Golden Kiss declared the horse of the season for winning three races.
