9 killed as suicide bomber rams PAF bus

Islamabad, Nov 1 (UNI) At least nine people were killed and 40 others injured when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive laden motorcycle into a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bus carrying Pakistani air force officials today.

''The bus was carrying trainee flying officers when it was attacked by the suicide bomber'' in the Sargodha district of central Punjab province, GEO TV quoted interior ministry spokesman Brigadier Javed Cheema as saying .

Eight air force officials died in the terrorist attack and about 40 were wounded, Cheema said.

''It was a suicide attack and the target was the bus which was carrying the air force officials,'' chief military spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad was quoted as saying by the channel.

The injured have been shifted to hospital where 21 out of the injured are in critical condition.

Sources said the head of the suicide attacker was found at the site of the attack. Sargodha is home to the largest air force base in Pakistan.
