Virk gets bail in disproportionate assets case
Chandigarh, Oct 31 (UNI) Former Punjab police chief S S Virk, a Maharashtra cadre IPS officer, was today granted bail in a disproportionate assets case by Justice H S Bhalla of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Virk was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau from New Delhi's Maharsahtra Bhawan on September 9, under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly having assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Since the day of his arrest, Virk has been admitted to PGI hospital due to various ailments.
However, he has been directed to surrender his passport and appear before the investigating officer as and when summoned.
