UP govt announces MSP for sugarcane for current season

Lucknow, Oct 31 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today announced the unchanged Minimum Support price (MSP) of sugarcane for the crushing season which started on October 1, 2007.

The MSP for inferior quality, normal quality and better quality would be Rs 122.50, Rs 125 and Rs 130 respectively, the U P Irrigation and Sugarcane Development Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui announced in the state assembly this afternoon.

The MSP for the current season has been kept unchanged from that of last year's, though the opposition parties decried that the prices demanded this year should have been hiked. The sugar mill owners, however, had been demanding decrease in the the prices.
