Three Assam Rifles personnel killed in encounter

Imphal, Oct 31 (UNI) Three personnel of Assam Rifles, including an officer, were killed and seven jawans injured in an encounter near Solve village at Phungyar in Ukhrul district today.

Police said the incident occurred when a convoy of Assam Rifles, coming towards its unit at Kasom Khullen in Ukhrul, was attacked by suspected Manipur based militants.

The injured were rushed to military hospital and combing operations were on in the area to nab the militants, police added. A large number of security personnel and officials have rushed to the area.
