Sept consumer price index rises 6.40%

New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) India's consumer price index rose 6.40 per cent in September compared to last year, and lower than the annual rise of 7.26 per cent in August.

The decline was due to a decline in food prices, a government satetement said today.

The index remained unchanged at 133 in September.
