Rs one crore idol recovered, 2 held

Maharajganj, Oct 31 (UNI) Police have busted an idol smuggling syndicate in Parsa Malik area adjoining the Indo-Nepal border in Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh, and arrested its two members possessing an 'ashtadhatu' idol of Lord Buddha.

The booty was estimated at Rs one crore in the international market.

According to police today, Samir and Koel were nabbed during patrolling yesterday night under Parsa Malik police station area.

A 10 kg ancient idol was also recovered from their possession.

The accused had been sent to jail.
