Pondy Assembly session from Nov 5

Puducherry, Oct 31: The Puducherry Legislative Assembly has been summoned to meet on November 5.

Legislative Assembly secretary M Sivaprakasam toldthe sources that the House would replace the Value Added Tax (VAT) ordinance with an Act by introducing a bill and allow discussion on the issue on that day.

Though the duration of the session was not immediately known, it was expected to be for two days.

The monsoon session of the Assembly, which met here on October 24, lasted only ten minutes. The House was adjourned sine die after giving assent to the ordinance.

The VAT regime was implemented through an ordinance without placing the bill in the Assembly.
