Kolkata, Oct 31 (UNI) CITU state president Shyamal Chakraborty today said the people of West Bengal have rejected the Trinamool Congress sponsored 12-hours ''conspiracy of immobilising Bengal.'' Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Chakraborty said though the TMC activists had forcefully shut down shops, obstructed the Government-run buses, private buses, local trains and the long distances trains across the state, the overall situation was normal.

He claimed that the industrial belts throughout the state were opened and the workers, including those belonging to INTUC which had earlier supported the bandh, had rejected it and joined duty.

The bandh supporters shut down the shops at Bagbazar area and attacked the CSTC buses and trams at Hazra, Tollygunge, Mukundapur, Salt Lake, Dalhousie and Joka, he said.

He also said there was no impact of bandh at the Tata's small car project in Singur.

475 CSTC buses, 127 trams, 153 tram company buses and a large number of private buses have been plying on the road, he claimed.

He also rejected Ms Mamata Banerjee's claim and said that no development work had been done in Nandigram.
