Jabalpur, Oct 31 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued notice to the state government, Vikram University, Medical Council of India and Association of Private Dental and Medical Colleges for granting admission under NRI quota to ineligible students in Ujjain's R D Gargi Medical College.

A division bench of Chief Justice Anang Kumar Patnaik and Justice Ajit Singh yesterday issued the notice, returnable in six weeks, on a public interest litigation challenging NRI quota admission to such students, who or their parents did not come under NRI category.

Besides seeking details of admission, the court also sought reply on fees levied and its use.

Petitioner's counsel Pushpendra Kaurav also pointed out that though the MCI had fixed the norm not to grant admission to those scoring less than 50 per cent marks in the entrance examination, the college had given admission to those who scored only 11 per cent.

Bogus NRI certificates were entertained and huge amount collected as capitation fee, he added.
