Man commits suicide in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 31 (UNI) A person committed suicide in north Kashmir today, police said.

They said Abdul Rashid Payer, a resident of Sonthipora in Trehgam area of Kupwara district, consumed some poisonous substance.

He was immediately rushed to a hospital where he died.

Police have registered a case and started investigations.

A significant rise in the incidents of suicide, particularly among the youth, has been witnessed in the Kashmir valley in the recent past.

About 110 people have committed suicide in the Kashmir valley during the past seven months.
