Jail inmate killed, 4 cops suspended

Lakhimpur Kheri, Oct 31 (UNI) A prisoner has been hacked to death by his uncle, who was also lodged in the same jail, in Gola area of this district.

Superintendent of Police N Ravinder today said Rakesh of Tulsipur village and his nephew Suresh were put behind bars after having a tussle over a land dispute.

With an intention to take revenge, Rakesh hit Suresh's head with a brick, while he was asleep late last night.

The critically wounded Suresh was rushed to hospital, but there he was declared brought dead.

Meanwhile, four policemen, including Station House Officer (SHO) D D Singh, two sub-inspectors and one constable, have been suspended for laxity.

Investigation was on.
