India offers its SME cluster development model to others
New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) India today offered its cluster development model to other developing countries for large-scale employment in small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
''The model has been working rather well in upgrading the skills, products and processes of SMEs in India,'' Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Mahabir Prasad said, addressing the 7th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) on SMEs in Beijing.
He said the model of cluster development was adopted after a certain amount of experimentation.
''This period of experimentation could perhaps be of interest to other developing countries that face similar problems of competition, technology and products and have a similar mandate to provide large-scale employment in SMEs,'' he said in his speech available here.
''We
would
be
too
glad
to
share
our
experience
with
them,''
he
said.
''At
the
same
time,
we
would
like
to
learn
from
other
Asian
and
European
countries
about
their
experience
in
cluster
development
so
that
we
may
improve
our
methods
and
imbibe
the
best
practices
in
the
world.''
