High-way robbers shoot dead businessman, injured two others

Ambala, Oct 31 (UNI) A trader was shot dead and two of his friends seriously injured by armed Highway robbers last night near Khan Ahmadpur village on Ambala-Jagadhri road, police today said.

Som Nath, a general merchant, was returning home at about 2000 hrs last night after closing down his shop in Barada when the gang of robbers riding three motorbikes, snatched his money bag from behind and sped away.

Incidently, Som Nath's two friends Mani and Sanjiv reached there soon after. They gave him a lift and began chasing the robbers.

The robbers stopped the bikes after going some distance, opened indiscriminate fire on the trio and fled away.

While Som Nath died on the spot due to bullet wounds, Mani and Sanjiv were seriously wounded.

The injured were later admitted in a private hospital in Yamuna Nagar where their condition was stated to be serious.

Mullana police has registered a case under 302, 307 of IPC and Arms Act.
