Cabinet sub committee on power sector constituted

Mumbai, Oct 31 (UNI) Maharashtra government has formed a Cabinet sub committee under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh to resolve the power sector issues.

The sub committee has been constituted in view of increasing demand for power that would necessitate both private and public power generation projects in the state.

The decision to constitute the sub committee was taken at the Cabinet meeting today. Apart from the chief minister, the deputy chief minister, and ministers of finance, industries, water resources, agriculture, energy and rural development will be the members of the committee. The chief secretary will be the member secretary of the committee.

The committee will review power situation in the state and will take the necessary decisions, an official release said here today.

Meanwhile, the state government has also decided that every taluka should have an aided college. This decision will burden the state exchequer by Rs 40.32 crore per year.
