50 kg poppy husk seized in Kashmir
Srinagar, Oct 31 (UNI) Continuing with its drive against the menace of drugs in Jammu and Kashmir, the state police today claimed to have seized about 50 kg of poppy husk and arrested one person in this connection.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sumbal, Dr Harmeet Singh said police had received specific information regarding grinding of poppy husk by some drug smugglers at Naninara in Sumbal area of Bandipora district in north Kashmir.
Following the information, police conducted raid at Naninara and seized about 50 kg of poppy husk kept in six gunny bags, he added.
The SDPO said one grinding machine was also seized and arrested one smuggler, identified as Mohammad Ismail Matta was arrested, while his accomplice, Ghulam Mohammad Guroo, managed to escape.
He said a case has been registered in this regard and a manhunt launched to nab the absconding smuggler.
