2 held for damaging MDMK flag post

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 31 (UNI) Police today arrested two persons for allegedly damaging the flag post of MDMK party here.

Police said the flag post, which was to be inaugurated by MDMK leader Vaiko was found damaged by the party volunteers.

Following this, the party volunteers staged a road blockade to protest against the incident.

Meanwhile, the volunteers set up a new flag post, which was later inaugurated by Mr Vaiko.

Talking to newspersons, Mr Vaiko condemned the Tamil Nadu government for foisting false cases against party's propaganda wing secretary Nanjil Sampath.

He strongly condemned the Union Railway Ministry for including Pollachi and its surroundings in Palghat Railway Division.

The party would organise a fast at Pollachi tomorrow to protest against the Railway Ministry's decision, he added.
