Two militants surrender arms before security forces in Jammu

Jammu, Oct 30: Two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) militants surrendered along with arms and ammunition before security forces at Reasi and Kishtwar districts here in Jammu and Kashmir, official spokesman today said.

HM militant identified as Mohammad Abas Wani alias Hashim surrendered before the officers of 9 Sector RR at Chatroo in Kishtwar district late last eveining, defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami told the sources.

The militant had handed over one AK 56 rifle, three magazines and 88 rounds to the officers, he said, asserting that Wani was later handed over to the police.

Earlier in the morning, HM militant Junaid alias Khalid, belonging to the nomadic Bakarwal tribe settled at Kothian village in Pouni block, surrendered along with arms and ammunition before Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and state police at Reasi, sources said.

Junaid, who had received weapons training in Pakistan, handed over one AK 47 rifle, four magazines, three hand grenades and a communication set, the sources said.
