Chennai, Oct 30 (UNI) Congress President Sonia Gandhi today enquired about the condition of TNCC President M Krishnasamy, who was stabbed by an assailant last night near Mudhukalathur in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu and wished him a speedy recovery.

Ms Gandhi, who is on China tour, telephoned Dr Vishnu Prasad, son of the Congress leader and expressed her concern over the incident.

Ms Gandhi wished him a speedy recovery, Mr Prasad told UNI.

Dr Prasad, told Ms Gandhi that there was 'lack of security.' The incident could have been averted had the district functionaries, including the District President, cooperated with the TNCC President, he told Ms Gandhi.

Stating that it could not be a 'case of mistaken identity' as reported in a section of the media, Dr Prasad, MLA, suspecting the motive behind the attack, pleaded with the Congress President for a CBI enquiry into the incident.

Dr Prasad said the condition of his father was stable as the stab injury did not hurt any vital organs. The diaphragm got damaged and it was repaired in the surgery conducted last night. ''He is out of danger now,'' Dr Prasad added.
