Rupee ends with slight gain at 39.39/4O per USD
Mumbai, Oct 29 (UNI) The Rupee today ended with a marginal gain of three paise against the US Currency at 39.39/40 as compared to the previous close of 39.42/43 per dollar.
The Indian unit started with a marginal gain at 39.41/42 and rose to its intra day high of 39.30 per dollar, reflecting a tendency to touch a 9-1/2 year high level. Later, due to RBI's reported intervention, its upward movement was capped around 39.41/42 per dollar, dealers said.
The six-month forward premium closed firm at 1,43 (1.09) percent, while annualised premium ended at 1.25 (1.10) per cent.
Meanwhile, RBI today fixed the reference rate at Rs 39.40 per US Dollar. The reference rate was down by 2 Paise as compared to yesterday's rate of Rs 39.38 per USD.
The Rupee traded in a mixed pattern against other major world currencies today. The Rupee against Euro ended weaker at 56.42/43 (56.49/50) per unit. While, against Pound Sterling, it closed low at 80.95/96 (80.82/83) per unit and against Japanese Yen, the rupee ended at 34.16/17 (34.20/22) per hundred units.
