Haryana DGP's father honoured

Chandigarh, Oct 30 (UNI) Mr J L Dalal, father of Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Ranjeev Dalal was conferred the Vayoshreshtha Samman for Centenarian this year.

The honour was conferred by Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Meira Kumar on the International Day of Older Persons at New Delhi this evening.

As a scientist, Mr Dalal has been associated with the Departments of Agriculture of Punjab and Haryana and also Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana.

He graduated from Punjab Agriculture College, Lyallpur. He won laurels in the area of groundnut research and the contribution made by him in evolving groundnut varieties still holds good.

He was ranked as most outstanding groundnut breeder in the country.

Mr Dalal was the Director of Agriculture of Haryana 1969-71.

He was deputed as Agriculture Advisor in Afghanistan for research, teaching and extension.
