Communities clash, passengers injured

Ramanathapuram, Oct 30 (UNI) Several bus passengers were injured and buses damaged in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu, following clashes between two communities today.

Police said some miscreants pelted stones at buses injuring passengers at Paramakudi, Mudukulathur and Chathirakudi areas. About 20 buses were damaged in stone-pelting incidents, forcing authorities to cancel services.

Despite tightened security, minor clashes broke out between two communities on the occasion of the birth centenary celebrations of late leader of All India Forward Bloc Muthuramalinga Thevar, who is revered as a hero by the dominant Thevar community.
