Bootlegger slashes penis to avoid police scrutiny

Vadodara, Oct 30 (UNI) An alcoholic and bootlegger, who was held by the police here yesterday for selling and consuming desi liquor, allegedly slashed his penis to avoid being interrogated.

The bootlegger, Babu Magan Vasawa, of Jhagadiya near Bharuch, was caught yesterday afternoon at around 1500 hrs by constable Sukhdev of Jhagadiya police station and sent him behind bars, police said today.

Vasawa, fearing that the police would resort to strong arm tactics to know details of his trade, slashed his penis with a sharp-edged instrument last night. Hearing his cries, the police rushed him to a local hospital. Considering the severity of the injury, he was later shifted to SSG Hospital here. He is now said to be out of danger, they added.
