Mobile exhibition train arrives on Oct 31

Chandigarh, Oct 29 (UNI) 'Azadi Express', a mobile exhibition train, would be arriving at the Chandigarh Railway station on October 31.

Mounted as part of celebrations of 150 years of the Ist War of India's Independence (1857), 60 years of Independence and birth centenary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, the train would stay at the railway station upto November 3.

The train exhibition, which will be open for the general public free of cost from 1000 hrs to 1900 hrs, has been organised to create awareness among people of events which constituted the bedrock of the country's freedom.

The exhibition also aims at conveying the achievements of free India in various fields and is a tribute to martyrs whose sacrifices made us proud as countrymen of free India.

'Azadi Express' has three sections covering the first war of independence in 1857 and events which led to it, period of freedom movement and the India's progress in post independence period.

The events have been depicted through panels, graphics, projection screen and audio system. The exhibition train comprises 12 non AC sleeper coaches depicting the exhibits.

The Azadi Express exhibition train has been conceptualized, designed and is being run jointly by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Culture in coordination with Ministry of Railways.

The train was flagged by Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh on September 28, 2007 from Delhi. The train would journey throughout the country till May, 2008 and halt at 70 stations, covering 21 states.
