UP Winter session to pass supplementary budget

A
brief
Winter
session
of
the
Uttar
Pradesh
legislature
will
commence
tomorrow.
The five-day session will approve the first supplementary budget of the Mayawati government to the tune of about Rs 20,000 crore, besides adopting 17 Bills.
Meanwhile, the opposition parties -- the Samajwadi Party, the BJP and the Congress-- will grill the governemnt on various issues, including crime, law and order, sugarcane dues, farmers' suicide and corruption.
The Opposition will also rake up issues of misuse of public funds by installing statues and renovation of parks in the state capital.
The state assembly will be adjourned on the opening day due to the death of sitting BSP MLA Upendra Tiwari (Hardoi) while on the next day all the Bills and supplementary budget would be tabled.
The lower house will again sit on November 5,6 and 7 to pass the bills and the supplementary budget.
