3 wanted dacoits killed in encounter

Chitrakoot, Oct 29 (UNI) Three members, including kingpin, of the dreaded Dwarika Kol dacoit gang, were killed in an encounter in Markundi area here this morning.

In a joint opeartion by Special Operation Group (SOG) and local police, outlaw Dwarika Kol alias Sultan was shot dead in a jungle along with his aides Preetam Kol and Mannu alias Danav, Superintendent of Police Preetender Singh said.

The kingpin carried a bounty of Rs 30,000 on his head by the two states, while the other two were having a reward of Rs 5,000 each on their head.

A large number of illicit weapons were also seized from their possesssion, he added.

The gang had become active after the death of dacoit Dadua in an encounter. The kingpin was facing charges under several heinous crimes like murder, abduction and robbery, the SP said.
