Jharkhand: 7 people killed in fresh violence

Latehar/Loherdega, Oct 28: A day after eighteen people were killed in naxalite strike in Giridih, altogether seven ultras of two separate proscribed outfits were killed in Latehar and its neighbouring Loherdega district today.

Yesterday, the ultras had killed altogether 18 people, including former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi's son, at Chilkhari village in Giridih district.

Loherdega's Suprintendent of Police Subodh Prasad said that three CPI(Maoist) were killed in an encounter with police near Kharcha forest area under Kisko police station area close to Latehar district.

Mr Prasad said the encounter at Bijabathan area occurred at 1430 hours in which all the three ultras were gunned down by a police team comprising officers of both the districts.

One of the slain rebel was identified as Sanjay Yadav, a self styled sub-zonal commander of the CPI(Maoist), Mr Prasad said.

Three rifles and a carbine had been recovered from their possession, he added.

In another incident occurred in Latehar district four persons were gunned down by CPI(Maoist) at Bonda village under Chandwa police station for their alleged association with the proscribed Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC).

Latehar Superintendent of Police Ravikant Dhan said the incident was an outcome of rivalry between two proscribed outfits- CPI(Maoist) and Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC).

The ultras had left a pamphlet alleging that the deceased had association with TPC members, Mr Dhan added.
