Durga Puja celebrations end with immersion of idols in Sultanpur
Sultanpur, Oct 28 (UNI) Devotees, full of enthusiasm and gaiety, submerged idols of Goddess Durga in the river Gomti after taking out a grand procession here this morning.
The 'visarjan shobhayatra' marked the end of the Durga Puja celebrations that commenced from the first day of Navratra.
As many as 150 idols were submerged after the 40-hr long procession, which began on Friday from Thatheri Bazaar of the district' Chowk area.
The first idol was, however, immersed in Sitakund ghat yesterday, following which the series of submersion lasted today.
Devotees in large numbers thronged the place and took part in the procession.
Several musical bands, DJ bands, dance artistes and performers entertained the people.
The celebrations seemed to be a mix and match of Deepawali and Holi, as devotees threw different colours in front of the Goddess, idol and burst crackers in the procession to express their happiness.
