Cyber laboratory for internet offences in Chennai

Chennai, Oct 28 (UNI) A cyber laboratory will be put in place by Chennai city police to go into the complaints relating to internet offences, according to City Police Commissioner Nanchil Kumaran.

Speaking at an Information Security Exhibition and Conference here yesterday, he said at present the police had to rush to Hyderabad for assistance whenever such offences were reported.

He expressed concern over unethical cyber behaviour among youths and professionals and said a new police training academy, coming up near here, would impart computer training to new recruits.

Computer experts were of the opinion that the Information Technology Act 2000 needed changes as it had only a limited scope in its present form, he added.
