AIR Sangeet Sammelan concluded in Shimla
Shimla, Oct 28 (UNI) All India Radio (AIR) Station Director (Shimla) Tej Krishan Rawal said the AIR was a powerful media of information, education and entertainment and was constantly providing its services to the people as a national broadcaster.
While speaking at the two-day annual AIR Sangeet Sammelan, which concluding here today, Mr Rawal said AIR is performing a unique role for broadcaster preservation and protection of various modes of music.
Presiding over the Sammelan, he said AIR aimed to providing a platform to the budding artists of the country which also inculcates a spirit of unity in diversity among the people.
He said this year the AIR Sangeet Sammelan was dedicated to the prominent musician of 16th century, Swami Hari Dass and added that the programmes were organised in 23 cities across India.
Mr Rawal said the AIR was determined to provide information, education and entertainment based programmes and added that the national broadcaster was an integral part of Indianisation and it was associated with the masses from the beginning.
He said Indian art and music had a special association with the AIR right from its inception. AIR Sangeet Sammelan was organised every year since 1954 to encourage classical and vocal music in the country, he added.
