Nandigram, Oct 28 (UNI) The situation here became worse today after the death of four CPI(M) supporters in a bomb explosion at Sherkhanchak village under Khejuri police station.

East Midnapore Superintendent of Police G A Srinivas said three persons died on the spot and one succumbed to injuries while on way to the hospital.

The condition of four others injured in the explosion was critical and they were admitted to Nandigram Hospital.

However, no one has been arrested so far, he added.

Meanwhile, the CPI(M) supporters alleged that the attack was made by the Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee (BUPC) members, who along with the Trinamool Congress, had called a 12-hour East Midnapore bandh today.

They also alleged that the BUPC activists ransacked the party's zonal office and set it afire.

Trinamool Congress Supremo Mamata Banerjee, who was trying to reach here, told mediapersons at Tamluk today that the CPI(M) government in West Bengal was worse than the Narendra Modi government.

''The government has completely beheaded democracy in the state,'' she said, while lambasting the Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee government.

Ms Banerjee tried to force her way into Nandigram via Khejuri from Tamluk this morning, where both the BUPC and CPI(M) supporters continued to exchange fire.

The CPI(M) activists had also cut off a vital road link between Reyapara and Chandipur near here in the absence of any police force.
