Chennai, Oct 27 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder leader Dr S Ramadoss today urged the Tamil Nadu government to pay a compensation of Rs 10,000 for every acre of paddy, damaged in the recent rains.

In a statement here, he said the government should come to the rescue of the farmers as they faced the danger of losing their crops after securing loans from the cooperative banks.

Besides paying compensation, the government should help the farmers in getting loans to raise the crops again. Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, who had waived farm loans soon after coming to power, should retrieve the farmers from the present crisis, he said.

He said the government should come forward to establish a permanent rehabilitation committee to redress the grievances during natural calamity, instead of deputing official and Ministerial teams to assess the situation.
